Note 2437 by JOANNE BOGART on 909669500 (481 characters) Subject: #2437 from JOANNE BOGART on 909669500
Until today, I did not know there was a meeting called ECULAUGH COMMENTS. I
am sorry - I never saw any reference to it. Sorry for breaking the rules.
Does this mean that all of us who said we wanted the silly songs, need to
re-address our request? I have now joined ECULAUGH COMMENTS and will follow
the rules. Given the huge number of people who sinned as I did, I think many
others did not know they were operating outside the guidelines.

Thanks for the note Joanne.
- Everyone gets a invite to ECULAUGH COMMENTS when they get an
invite to ECULAUGH. (I always send both when sending them out.)
- The topic line of the meeting refers to ECULAUGH COMMENTS
- When folks join ECULAUGH they get the topic note which encourages
them to also join ECULAUGH COMMENTS
- Any time anyone strays they get a personal invite to ECULAUGH COMMENTS
Some folks don't want to know the guidelines.
I could spam everyone in ECULAUGH with a personal invite to ECULAUGH
COMMENTS, or post a harrange/infomerical in ECULAUGH I suppose, but
everyone has already have had one which they missed/ignored/decided against
and 98% of the folks don't have a problem, seems overzealous to bother
2,000+ people for the few that miss. The ones who need it will ignore it
and it will just annoy the vast majority that don't need a reminder.
I don't think less than 2% of a meeting is a great number. Just seems
great unless one realize that out of over 2,000 members less than 30 have
wrote "ME TOO"
> Does this mean that all of us who said we wanted the silly songs, need
> to re-address our request?
Uptopic (get previous notes to read if you have just joined) documents the
progress (or lack thereof) of getting the silly songs posted in ECULAUGH.
Of course, anyone can email the poster direct if they wish.

You are right. I think that JOHN RAMSEY started going by his middle name

I already got it out.

Message for Christy Ramsey
The long note recently posted by Mark T. English is filled with the
language of prejudice. When we perpetrate the public display of
stereotypes we encourage others to focus on the weaknesses or
vunerabilities of those perceived as inferior. It is amazing what we think
is funny when none of "those people" are around. Well, as one who has
fought long and hard against demeaning speech, I would hope that you will
not continue to allow what perhaps this time was a merely an oversight of
this type prejudice. Rather I would hope that you would endeavor to screen
out all material that is insulting and degrading to any specific group.
Generally you do a good job, but I believe you missed on this one.

I reviewed the note again and decided that at least half of the one-liners
were either not RELIGIOUS or not GOOD so I removed and returned them.
Hard to make a joke without making fun of something.
Probably not enough to remove all someone may object to, and probably
enough to get someone to cry "CENSORSHIP!" although the ousted ones were
returned (not destroyed) for posting elsewhere. As long as I get both I
must be close.
(I wonder if USA TODAY will print anything I send...or will they "CENSOR"
me!? Horrors!)
Thanks for the alert/reminder.

Does anyone have a particpating dentist in the DeltaCare plan that you
recommend in the downtown or Jeffersonville areas? Enrollment ends
November 15. Thanks in advance for your help.

OK, is this supposed to be a joke -- or did it get fired off to the wrong

I hope the latter, I don't get it at all. Maybe it is some of that irony I
keep hearing about after I remove and return them. This one is removed and
returned. CENTER TALK would be a better place...

Looks like those LutherAnns songs are copyrighted. Sigh.
I suspected as much, that is what I get for trusting people. I'll
keep doing it anyway. <g>

I'm not sure that I understand the recent note I recieved from Christy
Ramsey re: my note, #6227. In that note I wrote concerning the several
request for (and subsequent posting of) "silly Lutheran songs." The note
which posts the texts to the songs is #6220. In a gently way I wanted
people to know that the songs are copywrited material. I know that I could
have written a personal note to the author of note #6220 letting her know
that they are copyrighted. But there are hundreds of people who read
Eculaugh who would continue to use the texts posted in #6220 without ever
knowing that to do so is illegal. I understand that Eculaugh is just for
humor & that Eculaugh Comments is for critique, etc. But really, who is
going to read a note posted to the meeting & then check the branch Eculaugh
Comments to verify the leagality of use? If my note #6227 needs to be
removed from Eculaugh, then so too (in my opinion) does note #6220 need to
be removed. Please help me better understand how we can ensure that the
Eculaugh meeting not become cluttered with nonhumorous postings and at the
same time ensure that there is an effective means to deal with postings of
material that is humorous, but which is illegal.
regards, gary
