Thank you for passing this on. When I sent to songs to my mom, I had my
sister get out the old album, hoping we could get permission. We have dear
friends who write music and I'm very aware of copyright violations.

Comments are not allowed in ECULAUGH. I don't know which part of that
statement you are unsure of understanding.
I understand are trying to caution people about violations of copyright.
Such well-intention efforts even for good purposes are not allowed in
ECULAUGH.
Expectations are high for ECULAUGH members. Thank you for noticing. They
are supposed to edit themselves before posting only GOOD CLEAN RELIGIOUS
HUMOR, refrain from commenting in the meeting, keep an eye out for
copyrighted material and be familar or a member of several other related
meetings. Over 98% of ECULAUGH members get along with no problems.
As I wrote you and here, I removed and returned note #6220. It is no longer
in the meeting nor will it be posted on the web. I have written to the
original poster asking them to get copyright permission and wrote to the
person the poster got it from asking for them to seek copyright permission.
I would be helpful if you could follow up on my request to you to seek
copyright permission.
I believe that the folks that need a reminder or caution are the ones least
likely to heed it. Further, folks who logged on after 2:30 pm today would
have gotten the copyright reminder without the original note, thus causing
confusion and comments about the comment. (There is interest in the silly
songs; over 30 "Send ME TOO" notes have been removed and returned. So a
caution about using them when they are not available would generate some
comments.)
As I see my volunteer work here, it is not to make sure folks do not use
copyrighted material innocently(?) posted by others appropriately. (As if
I could!) I do seek to remove copyrighted material from the meeting when I
find out about it. (That I can do.)
I realize you would run a meeting differently. You are welcome to do so and
advocate change in ECULAUGH COMMENTS as you did.
Thanks for your note and interest.

Dear J. Christy
As I am somewhat new to e-mail, and having seen your name often in the
column, I thought that you were convener and censor for the jokes. My
apologies if I was in error. I certainly did not mean to offend.

I'm an editor not a censor. Folks can publish in other meetings, make their
own web page, or take an ad in a newspaper with their removed and returned
ECULAUGH stuff. I don't destroy it nor ban it. Simply remove and return it
for posting elsewhere.
I'm the current moderator of ECULAUGH. I didn't convene (begin) the meeting
but in Convene's use of the term I am the convenor.
Thanks for your note. It was kind of you to write. Thanks.
