Finding an Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Consider using EcuServe.   If you do not have an Internet Service Provider (ISP), Ecunet can provide you one through EcuServe.  Call customer support at 800-864-5606 for more information or sign-up online

If EcuServe doesn't meet your needs, here's a "check-list" to review while searching for an ISP:

  1. Decide if you're interested in high-speed (e.g. cable or DSL) access or dial-up.
  2. Check around with friends, the local yellow pages under "Internet providers," and with your local public library for leads.
  3. If you need to look further and want to keep costs down, get onto the Web at a neighbor's house or public library and check local access numbers for www.access-4-free.com and www.netzero.com .
  4. If you still can't find access, try www.thelist.com or www.ispcheck.com for providers.
  5. Need toll-free access to the Internet while you're on the road and your ISP doesn't provide that?  Consider setting up a personal 800 number that points to your ISP.  You may contact EcuServe to set up a personal 800 number with reasonable rates, and support Ecunet at the same time.
  6. If you still can't find a suitable Internet access provider, you may use the Ecunet terminal server directly by setting up a personal toll-free number with EcuServe that points to the Ecunet terminal server.  Once connected to Ecunet you may continue to use Convene for DOS via the EcuComm software or Convene for Windows.  However you would be much better off if you switch to a free e-mail program like Outlook Express (available for free download at Microsoft)..
