Character usage (usernames, passwords, names)
Usernames may contain letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), dashes (-), underscores (_), and apostrophes ('), and may not contain an equal sign (=) or brackets (<,>).
Passwords may contain any combination of characters. A minimum of 8 characters is required.
First and last names support unicode/UTF-8 characters, and may contain spaces, letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), dashes (-), forward slashes (/), and periods (.), with a maximum of 40 characters.
Note: Dots (.) are recognized by Google Apps. This is not the same as Gmail. If you create a user account called username, this user will not be able to receive messages addressed to user.name, or us.er.na.me, or any other combination of dots that are used in Gmail. To receive mail with dot variations, ask your site administrator to create a nickname. (source for this info)
